About Germaine

It took a few years of college, working and traveling to discover that I was best suited to a hands-on trade. My interest in health and wellness lead me to San Francisco where I specialized in pregnancy massage therapy. Pregnant clients began to invite me to attend their births in 2001 and I discovered a natural sensitivity to labouring womens needs. I enjoy accompanying families in their journey to parenthood as a doula and infant massage instructor.

Maternal wisdom is passed down through the generations. My mother was influenced by Ina May’s original birth book ‘Spiritual Midwifery’ and La Leche League when having kids in Ireland in the 70’s. My grandmothers had their combined 24 babies in the 1940’s and 1950’s when childbirth had moved to hospitals and was medically mananged. My great-grandmothers had their dozens of babies at home with midwives and boiling water.

I am instilled with the belief in women’s natural abilities, mothers intuition and in the intelligence and perfection of every baby.
